Administration

TimI've been with CCLCS since 2001, as teacher, TESL Coordinator, LINC Coordinator and now Director - everything except childcare worker.
Maybe because I grew up in a Greek household, languages were always fascinating to me. I took linguistics courses at UofT and not long after graduating, I started teaching ESL - in visa schools, overseas and eventually at CCLCS.

CherylI've been coordinating the TESL department at CCLCS for about 15 years now (time does fly!). I've been involved in the ESL and TESL field since my first teaching experience in Japan a number of years ago. Besides managing the TESL program, I have been on the executive for TESL Toronto and TESL Ontario and am currently working on my doctorate at York U.

SebastianI've been an accountant for over 15 years, working in a number of different companies. But I've enjoyed working for a non-profit like CCLCS since 2022. I like the relaxed atmosphere and supporting the good work that they do.

I've worked at CCLCS for 22 years as a teacher and LINC Coordinator.  My interest in teaching ESL started after doing volunteer work with a few organizations in Toronto.  My favourite part of my role at CCLCS is building relationships with amazing people from all over the world and seeing them thrive.  When I'm not working, you can usually find me cooking, baking or doing something else related to food.

I came to CCLCS as a student first in 2003 and got a job as an administrative assistant in 2004. Since then I have worked at CCLCS all locations and now I am working at the North York school. I like to welcome our students everyday and listen to them when they talk to me. I like working with my colleagues and making small talk with them. I am so happy to work at CCLCS.

But also, I like exercising everyday and watching K-dramas!

Mei Li

I was a LINC student at CCLCS for a couple of years before getting this job as LINC Assistant. I enjoy welcoming the students and helping them get settled. I know from experience how difficult it can be.

In my free time, I love singing and visiting places around Toronto.

TESL

I've been teaching TESL for more than 15 years, although I've been in the ESL field for about 30. My interest in travelling started when I taught in Japan back in the 90's. Since then, I've written a couple of travel books and visited a couple dozen countries. I find English fascinating (I have a degree in English Lit). there's always something new to learn - many times from the students!

I am a believer in lifelong learning, and love working with people who choose to continue building their skills. I have backgrounds in psychology and education administration, and started teaching in Japan in 2018. I have since come back to Canada, where I completed a Master's of Arts degree in Applied Linguistics.

LINC Teachers

AmpiI'm originally from Mexico but Toronto has been my home for over 15 years. I've been teaching for most of my adult life but I've been with CCLCS only for the last 8 years. I enjoy teaching and try to make the class fun and interesting. I like yoga, marathon running and changing my hair every few months.

KatherineI started teaching at CCLCS in 2019.  My favourite things about teaching here are meeting new people and helping my class feel like a safe and supportive place to practice English and learn about life in Canada.  I have many interests, so when I'm not working, I spend a lot of time learning.  I especially love stories, food, the arts, and being in nature.  If you see me at school, please come say hi!

Paul

I've been teaching English at CCLCS since 2004.  I also did my teacher training here. Before that, I got my bachelor's degree at the University of Toronto. I'm from Toronto, but I spent several years living in Florida, where I went to high school. These days,  I'm also a part-time student.  I study my parents' native language, Maltese, in my spare time. I love to travel and learn new things about different cultures and languages, so this is the perfect job for me.

KimberleyI have been part of the CCLCS family for over 20 years, and am still as passionate as ever about teaching. CCLCS provides a uniquely warm and supportive environment for staff and students alike. Teaching  LINC students definitely keeps me humble!

I have been teaching at CCLCS since 2023. Before that, I worked at a middle and high school in Japan for 15 years and published several government-authorised English textbooks for Japanese middle and high school students. I completed my master’s degree in TESOL at Columbia University. My passion is helping people find their place to shine in their new environment through language teaching. I also enjoy learning a variety of things from my students.

RalphI first taught English in Japan many (too many) years ago! When I returned to Canada, I decided to do it full-time here as well. I love learning new things about the students -  their cultures, languages and home countries. In my spare time, I play on a trivia team and go on canoe trips - but not at the same time.

I have taught English, ESL, ESP and EAP  to students of all ages on two continents. I have been with CCLCS for nearly a decade, and have enjoyed being in a warm and supportive environment. I am passionate about helping students adapt to their new lives in Canada, and it gives me immense pleasure to watch them succeed.

I've been teaching for over 10 years now, and joined CCLCS in 2022. I focus on helping students adjust to life in Canada while also developing essential English language skills. It's so rewarding to watch our students gain confidence in their skills and move on to do bigger and better things!
