Course Pre-requisites

To be eligible for TESL Canada or TESL Ontario accreditation, you must have a university undergraduate degree. If your degree was obtained outside Canada, it must be evaluated by an approved organization (i.e., WES, ICAS, UofT Comparative Education).

If you do not have a degree and wish to take our course, you will not be eligible for TESL Canada or TESL Ontario accreditation.  You will need to sign a waiver stating that you understand this requirement.

All TESL students must meet the English Language proficiency requirements of the certifying body (TESL Canada or TESL Ontario). If you completed a minimum 3-year undergraduate degree in an accredited Canadian university, you meet the language requirement.

If you did your degree in a non-English speaking country, please consult the TESL Canada requirements and the TESL Ontario requirements.

Please Note: You can begin the course before you have taken your English Language Proficiency exam. You will need to sign a waiver indicating that you will complete the requirement before applying to TESL Canada or Ontario.
